Cedars HVAC Supply stocks HVAC contactors, relays, and transformers from QE and Everwell for residential and commercial equipment. Reliable electrical components are the foundation of safe HVAC system operation. From the contactor that switches compressor power to the transformer that feeds the control circuit, every electrical component in an HVAC system must be rated correctly and in good working condition.
Common HVAC Electrical Components
- Contactors — High-current switching devices that control power to the compressor and condenser fan motor. Contactors are one of the most frequently replaced components in outdoor units — pitted or burned contacts cause voltage drop, compressor hard-starts, and premature motor failure. We stock single-pole, double-pole, and three-pole contactors across common amp ratings.
- Relays — Smaller switching devices used to control lower-current loads such as fan motors, control circuits, and accessory outputs. Common in air handlers, heat pumps, and commercial equipment control panels.
- Transformers — Step-down transformers convert line voltage (typically 208–240V) to 24V AC for the control circuit. A failed transformer results in no thermostat power and a completely unresponsive system. We carry 40VA and 75VA transformers for residential and commercial applications.
- Circuit breakers — Both residential-style breakers and commercial disconnect breakers for HVAC equipment. Essential for service situations where existing breakers have tripped repeatedly or show signs of heat damage.
- Safety switches and disconnects — Non-fused and fused disconnect switches for outdoor unit installations, required by code in most jurisdictions. Also includes high-pressure and low-pressure safety switches for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Thermistors and sensors — Temperature and pressure sensing components used by control boards to monitor system operating conditions.
Selecting the Right Electrical Component
Always match replacement electrical components to the original specifications: voltage rating, amperage rating, coil voltage (for contactors and relays), and VA rating (for transformers). Undersized contactors and relays are a leading cause of repeat electrical failures. When in doubt, consult the equipment wiring diagram or call our team for guidance.
