Start Kits

Start Kits from Cedars HVAC give a single-phase compressor additional starting torque when it has trouble starting under load. Often called hard-start kits, they typically combine a start capacitor with a potential relay or electronic device and are used on air-conditioner condensers, heat pumps, and some refrigeration compressors. Choose a kit by compressor voltage, tonnage or horsepower range, start-capacitor microfarad rating, terminal configuration, and the compressor manufacturer’s guidance. Many residential kits serve 208/230-volt equipment, but correct sizing matters because an oversized or unsuitable kit can mask a deeper problem.
