The HC-BMM-24 flexible hose (HCi part HC-BMM-24) is a 3/4″ x 24″ stainless steel braided flexible hose with male NPT x male NPT ends. It is made by HCi (Hydronic Components Inc.) for connecting water source heat pumps, fan coils and other hydronic terminal units to the building water loop. The 3/4″ x 24″ size is the most common hose for 1.5 to 5 ton water source heat pumps.

Where the HC-BMM-24 flexible hose is used

Flexible hoses are the standard supply and return connection on water source heat pumps (WSHP) and fan coils. A hose absorbs compressor vibration, isolates noise from the piping, and allows for small misalignment between the unit and the riser, so the unit can be pulled for service without cutting pipe. Pair the hose with a ball valve, union and PT port, such as the HCi NT series, and an automatic balancing valve on the return side.

How to install a flexible hose on a heat pump

1. Confirm the unit’s water connection size matches the 3/4″ hose.
2. Install isolation valves on the supply and return before connecting the hose.
3. Use pipe sealant or PTFE tape on male threads and tighten with a backup wrench.
4. Do not twist the hose, and keep bends within the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius.
5. Open the valves slowly, vent air, and check every joint for leaks.
