Compact automatic balancing valve — HCi TA1-BFF-L, 3/4″ FNPT

The HCi TA1-BFF-L is a 3/4″ FNPT Compact compact automatic balancing valve in HCi’s compact TA1 body. It holds a preset hydronic flow rate (GPM) automatically as system pressure changes, so each heat pump, fan coil or coil branch gets its design flow without manual balancing in the field.

How an automatic balancing valve works

Inside the valve is a spring-loaded flow cartridge. When the pressure difference across the valve rises, the cartridge closes down; when it falls, the cartridge opens, so flow stays close to the rated GPM across the valve’s operating range. This makes an automatic balancing valve the standard choice on the return side of water source heat pumps on a two-pipe loop.

How to order and install

1. Find the design GPM on the heat pump schedule or submittal.
2. Add the required GPM in the order notes at checkout, or call (305) 850-6693. We confirm it before the order ships.
3. Install on the return side with the flow arrow in the direction of flow.
4. After start-up, read the PT ports to confirm the pressure drop is within the valve’s operating range.
